Prepaid calling companies join in advocacy effort

Twelve companies offering prepaid phone calling services are forming a new trade group to advocate for the industry, which is experiencing increasing government scrutiny. The creation of the American PrePaid Phonecall Association was announced Jan. 25, only a few months after the Federal Communications Commission proposed $20 million in fines on four prepaid calling companies for allegedly engaging in a variety of deceptive business practices.
